Maribor- Day 2

This is the hotel arena where we will be spending the next couple nights- I guess until they take us somewhere else. The window third from the left looks right into our room when the curtains are open.
(Below) The white building is the hotel arena and that massive hill is really good for skiing in the winter and brutal to climb in the fall. Yes. My roommate Alicia and I climbed that mountain this morning at 7. I woke up at 6:30 and couldn't go back to sleep so we decided to trek our way up. We made it about 5/6 of the way up. You can kind of see the top of the hill that we stopped at in the picture. But I bet you could also find some ruler and measure it to really see.

It was a beautiful climb and super fun. Made me realize that I am in fairly decent shape.
The breakfast was way good. Tons of food meaning lots of breads, meats, and cheeses. They have some really great cream cheese-ish spreads. And of course Nutella. But no spekulous.

We took the gondola up the mountain and got to see this guy take off on his hang glider(?) I'm not sure exactly what it's called, but they spoke broken English that we could barely understand.
Oh and we ran into some horses.
I definitely didn't get very close to them. Wasn't sure if they were carriers of polio.
They almost wouldn't let us get down off the mountain using the gondola. I wasn't sure if it was because it was closed or because we only bought a one way ticket. (Why would they sell us a one way ticket? It's like they think we want to slide down the mountain!) But when we jumped the bars, the dude didn't seem to attack us or anything. In fact he kinda welcomed us in. Once we reached the bottom of the mountain, they shut it off.

After the gondola, we went to the market. It's the mustard yellow building in that picture. The houses are just incredible.
We had our first open gym. After we went to pizza at their American restaurant and i ordered the vyjostovyisjjkkk. It's the pizza with corn, peppers, and asparagus. The asparagus is the white stuff there. It was really good! I could barely even eat a third of it. When we were done eating, the girls kept ordering beers so we didn't get the check till an hour after I had finished eating. Supposedly, the waiter couldn't split the check. Probably just another excuse thrown at us Americans. Actually I know it was an excuse because we went there yesterday and they definitely split the check.
